The term Art Deco jewelry(1920-1935) is derived from the 1925 Paris Exposition des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes. Diamonds and platinum were used without regard to cost and the jewelry mirrored the distinctive Art Deco style.
The Art Retro jewelry style (1935-1949) followed the Art Deco period, so its name was a play on the name of its predecessor. Both are getting quite rare and are now collectible.
